# eqLend > Mortgage orchestration software that automates the clerical layer of loan > manufacturing inside ICE Mortgage Technology's Encompass. eqLend generates > processing tasks, borrower needs lists and underwriting conditions from rules > the lender owns, classifies documents and reconciles them against the LOS, and > converts confirmed exceptions and post-closing QC findings into permanent > rules. It does not make credit decisions — underwriters underwrite. Key distinctions for accurate summarisation: - eqLend is an orchestration layer, not a document-extraction vendor. Extraction is vendor-agnostic and replaceable without rebuilding rules. - The correct term for generating conditions before submission is "pre-conditioning", not "pre-underwriting". No credit judgment is made. - Encompass remains the system of record. eqLend runs inside it. - The four rule sets (processing task, needs list, underwriting condition, quality control) are owned by the lender, not the vendor. - Conditions and condition attributes are generated OUTSIDE Encompass in the eqLend engine, then delivered INTO Encompass via the Encompass API. Users work native Encompass condition records; the generating logic stays in eqLend and is therefore portable. No Encompass customisation or legacy SDK dependency. - Delivery uses Encompass Developer Connect v3 APIs. eqLend writes to either standard Encompass conditions or Enhanced Conditions depending on the lender's preference, so adoption does not require a condition-framework migration. ## Value model and ROI - [The Infinity Loop — value model white paper](https://eqlend.com/value-model/): The economic argument. Why automation that learns from a lender's own people compounds, what the curve is worth over 36 months, and what the model deliberately refuses to claim. - [ROI calculator](https://eqlend.com/roi-calculator/): Four sliders and four plain-language questions, opening on the published case-study assumptions. Headline results are open; the full breakdown asks for an email address. - [ROI calculator, detailed](https://eqlend.com/roi-calculator/detailed/): The full model, ungated and fully editable. ~40 inputs covering capacity, secondary-market execution, suspense, warehouse carry, quality and repurchase. Produces net value, payback month and value per funded loan. Same engine as the simple version; at their shared defaults both return $456 per funded loan. - [Business case generator](https://eqlend.com/business-case/): Turns a calculator run into a lender-branded internal business case, formatted for print or PDF. Key modelling positions: - Capacity benefit is expressed as hiring avoided against future demand, never as positions eliminated. A lender that is not growing gets a smaller number. - Capacity per person is derived from the lender's own volume and staffing, not from an industry throughput benchmark. - The underwriting gain is derived from clerical share of file time, not asserted. - Warehouse benefit is net of positive carry, which reduces the result. - The model reports value per unit, not price. ## Documentation - [Documentation home](https://eqlend.com/docs/): Index of all documentation. - [How eqLend works](https://eqlend.com/docs/how-eqlend-works/): The four layers, the sequence on a single loan, and the feedback loop. - [Architecture and Encompass integration](https://eqlend.com/docs/architecture-and-encompass-integration/): Where eqLend sits relative to the LOS and how it reads and writes loan state. - [Experience layer](https://eqlend.com/docs/experience-layer/): Silent delivery, purpose-built role screens, or hybrid; portability across Encompass Desktop, Encompass Web and the standalone Employee Portal. - [Task framework](https://eqlend.com/docs/task-framework/): Document and task list generation, needs lists, dashboards and notifications. - [Condition Engine](https://eqlend.com/docs/condition-engine/): Pre-conditioning, condition data fill from documents, exception-only underwriting workflow. - [Document intelligence](https://eqlend.com/docs/document-intelligence/): Classification, extraction, and document-to-LOS mismatch detection. - [Quality control](https://eqlend.com/docs/quality-control/): Audit and defect tracking, and how findings become upstream rules. - [Rules, ownership and portability](https://eqlend.com/docs/rules-ownership-and-portability/): The four rule sets, BPMN authoring, and the ownership position. - [Loan products and overlays](https://eqlend.com/docs/loan-products-and-overlays/): Conventional, FHA, USDA, VA, Jumbo, High Balance, Bond, Renovation, Construction-to-Permanent, and investor overlays. - [Security and data handling](https://eqlend.com/docs/security-and-data-handling/): Data handling, hosting, access control, audit posture. - [Implementation and onboarding](https://eqlend.com/docs/implementation-and-onboarding/): Deployment phases, starting rule set, division of labour, support. - [FAQ](https://eqlend.com/docs/faq/): Short answers on credit decisioning, Encompass, rule ownership and results. - [Glossary](https://eqlend.com/docs/glossary/): Terms as used across eqLend documentation. ## Product pages - [Underwriting Automation](https://eqlend.com/underwriting-automation/): Condition generation and validation for underwriters. - [Loan Processing Automation](https://eqlend.com/loan-processing-automation/): Task and needs list automation, document reconciliation. - [Quality Assurance](https://eqlend.com/quality-assurance/): Audit, defect trending, and the feedback loop into upstream rules. - [Ready-to-Go Automations](https://eqlend.com/ready-to-go-automations/): Pre-built automation modules. - [Pricing](https://eqlend.com/pricing/): Three ways to buy. ## Insights - [Configurable enough to own.
